Traveling Mama!!

Hi everyone!! I am on new adventures starting this month. Keep looking here for all the exciting places I will be traveling to. Sometimes it will just be me. Sometimes Keith will join me and other times my little travel buddy, Nyx, will be part of the action.

This blog is a start of new beginnings for me. My mom passed away in March of this year. I realized for the first time that my daughter wasn’t going to be returning to Ohio anytime soon. I mean, I knew that would happen, but the reality didn’t hit until this year. To say life has been a little askew is putting things mildly. Yet, I know I must find out more about myself.

Keith has his bike riding, weight lifting, and YouTube channel. Kevin has his school, work, and friends. Yet, I somehow forgot to find out how to have adventures and make plans on my own. I do not think I am unusual in that. Us mom’s, we spend a lot of time loving and taking care of others. It’s an awesome job, but when the need for mom drops to phone calls and short term visits, it can be a little unsettling. So I have decided to do something about it.

I love photography. For 8 years I bought, learned, and took some fantastic photographs of our local kids around the Ohio Valley. As they graduated high school I took Senior pictures.. I photographed the Indian Creek High School Marching Band

and the Indian Creek Middle school Band. I started a company called Bright Image photography and I really enjoyed all of it. Yet, when we moved to Athens Ohio I never figured out how to bring all of that with me.

So now, I am starting a new adventure. Something I have wanted to start for a long time. I am going to do a travel blog. My first voyages will be small day trips between Athens and Toronto Ohio. I have been researching the Ohio River byway and there are small towns all along the way. I am hoping to capture beautiful moments. I want the stories to be told through my images of changing leaves, cute towns, wildflowers, wineries and food choices as well as learning the history and stories of these small river towns.

I have lived along the Ohio River most of my adult life. I know it played a huge roll in establishing many of the towns on its shores. It also was the cause of many Native American and European settlers skirmishes. I have come to realize that many people take for granted the history that sits in the water that runs along side their towns. Sometimes they are only reminded of our quiet river when it runs angry and leaps across its shore lines to flood the quiet towns. I want to learn more. As those calm waters flow I also want to follow it, to see what adventures it holds for me.
